Healing through Community, Safely

There are two kinds of people in the world. The first kind hears “group”-anything and thinks, “Wow, great! Connecting with new people! I’m in!” The second kind of person hears the word “group” and seriously considers hiding under the bed. If you’re the first kind of person, welcome! Feel free to skip this next bit. If you’re the second kind of person, here are some reasons to give our virtual groups a chance.

  1. Human beings are social animals, and we need connection to heal and thrive—especially during the isolation of COVID-19. Although individual sessions are amazing in their own way, groups have something special to offer: the ability to connect with others who struggle with the same things we do. The beauty of a group is that everyone is invested in creating a supportive, non-judgmental, emotionally safe space where every member gets the benefit of every other member’s experience.

  2. Sometimes, the best way to heal is to help. Being a part of a group stirs our innately human instinct to support and empower one another. In addition to being the recipient of the group’s wisdom, you will also sometimes be a provider of that wisdom. It’s a pretty awesome way to realize your strength and feel good about your own journey.

  3. It’s affordable! Groups with Monique are covered by most insurance plans, and groups with Megan and/or Thomas are priced below many plan co-pays at $25 per session.

We hope we’ve convinced you to give groups a shot! Please keep scrolling to learn more about our groups:

Wednesdays at 6:30 beginning March 3rd

$25 per session

Facilitated by Tom, this 8-week group is specifically designed to help college students weather the challenges of going to school amidst a global pandemic. Being on campus is a core part of college life, and enables students to create the support systems that can help them stay afloat when the going gets rough. Except, for so many students this spring, being on campus won't be possible—at least not in the usual way. Whether you're logging into classes from your parents' home or holed up in your dorm room, it can be incredibly tough to make connections. This group aims to fill some of the gaps by providing a supportive space to vent, meet other students who can relate to your struggles, and learn some new coping strategies.
